I am Adventuress. I am obsessed with historic textiles and with a background in archaeology, love nothing more than researching ancient textile processes of different cultures, symbols, origins and the many stories told in thread and cloth. I also love travelling to faraway places to find, buy and bring home unique, traditional, vintage and older dowry items, tribal clothing, quilts, shawls and scarves, bags made using recycled embroidery scraps, cushions and little handmade tribal dolls.
Adventuress Gallery is open by appointment in Hyde Park just 2 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD 7 days per week from midday to 4pm. Ring me on 0467361753 to make a time.
I choose things that hit my heart...be they simple, worn, utilitarian pieces that tell the story of daily family use, or special, finely-worked cloth that sings of important rituals like weddings or birth. Everything I buy has been made with love for family, identity, cultural pride and with incredible skill and has been chosen for it's beauty, individuality and exquisite embroidery, patchwork, quilting, weaving or dyeing techniques. Every piece is absolutely unique.
These threads sing through the generations - from mother to daughter or father to son using ancient symbols and tell stories of identity, culture, landscape and community.
