SOLD BOHO BAG vintage hand-embroidery made by Meghwar tribal women of Sindh, Pakistan

$120.00

SHAKILA boho bag. This is my design and made using recycled scraps from many vintage exquisitely hand-embroidered pieces reclaimed from old ralli quilts, clothing, shawls, coverings, festival and wedding decorations including braids, mirrors, cowrie shells (female symbol) and pompoms all pieced together and sewn by the Meghwar tribal women in Sindh, Pakistan in villages of mud huts. Named after Shakila Vasalai, a brilliant embroiderer who lives in Sindh, Pakistan. There is not another bag like this. Each one is completely unique. Both sides are completely different (see photos). Meghwar women are internationally renown for their fine embroidery and quilt-making skills.

Take a close look at each piece of embroidery. Traditional embroidery is not practiced as widely as it once was and authentic bags like this are very special. This is a bag to treasure. As the pieces included are old there may be wear, fading, small flaws and missing mirros. Black cotton lining with double inner pocket. 65cm (including handle) x 50cm
